Washington DC Facelift

What is a face lift

A facelift is a surgical procedure that can correct the gravitational effects of aging, gently lifting and tightening areas of the face to create a more rested and youthful appearance in the face and neck.

What does a face lift cost?

The cost of face lift surgery varies greatly depending on the physician and the specific situation of the patient. Generally speaking, a face lift in the Washington DC area costs between $6000 and $10,000. For a more presonal estimate, please contact us.

Who is this for?

The process of aging can introduce a lot of a changes into a person's life, and unfortunately the physical changes tend to be unwanted. The face loses its elasticity and muscle tone, and begins to droop and wrinkle in multiple places. A facelift can benefit anyone who has experienced any of this, specifically facial and neck wrinkles, deep wrinkles running from the corners of the mouth up to the nose, a loss of definition in the contours of the neck and chin, or a constantly fatigued look.

About the face lift procedure

A facelift is perfomed on an outpatient basis, usually under general anesthesia, or local with sedation. Depending on the desired results and amount of work required, facelifts can range in degree from "mini" to "standard." The incisions are placed inconspicuously in the hairline above the ears, trail down around the earlobe, and end up behind the ear, again hidden within the hairline. The underlying muscles are tightened and the skin is gently lifted and redraped into its new position.

What is involved in the facelift recovery period?

Head and neck dressings are worn out of the office and usually removed on the day following surgery. Standard pain medication can help patients control any initial discomfort. Facelift sutures are usually removed about 14 days after surgery, while swelling and bruising should take about 10-20 days to decrease to presentable levels. Most patients return to work when this occurs, or after the sutures are removed, but avoid more strenuous activity for several weeks.

What are the risks?

Facelift surgery is considered a very safe procedure. Some of the risks include temporary swelling and numbness.
